Stepmother sues suspended Mayfield over comments (AP)

FILE -- In this May 26, 2005, file photo, Jeremy Mayfield sits in the garage during practice at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. Mayfield is back under suspension for a failed random drug test after an appeals court ruled in NASCAR's favor Friday, jULY 24, 2009, issuing a stay on the injunction that gave the driver the right to return to the race track.

Jeremy Mayfield’s stepmother has sued the suspended NASCAR driver, claiming he made slanderous, false and defamatory statements.
