Gordon remains seventh after Stage 6 of Dakar

Qatari Nasser al-Attiyah won the sixth stage of the Dakar Rally on Thursday to increase his overall lead. However he could face a time penalty after a review of whether al-Attiyah went through all the control points on a shortened 178-kilometer stage between San Rafael and Mendoza in Argentina.

Third phase of construction at Dover track under way

Phase 3 of Dover International Speedway’s “Monster Makeover” is currently underway. Construction crews in Dover have already removed the existing frontstretch pit wall and preparations are underway to install a longer, SAFER (Steel And Foam Energy Reduction) wall in time for the May 29-31, 2009 NASCAR race weekend. The end result will be a wider, safer pit road, and one additional pit stall.

Talladega reduces ticket prices for Cup Series races

Talladega Superspeedway just gave its fans another reason to help celebrate its 40th anniversary, by reducing more than 20,000 Sprint Cup Series tickets to only $40 each. Beginning Jan. 8, tickets in the Gadsden and Lincoln grandstands will be available at the reduced price for both the April 26 Aaron’s 499 and the Nov.1 Amp Energy 500 Cup races.

Al Attiyah, Coma widen leads in Dakar Rally (AP)

Nasser Al Attiyah and Marc Coma widened their leads in the car and motorbike divisions of the Dakar Rally on Thursday, covering a route through the Andes foothills so difficult it had to be shortned by more than half.
